Persecution Will Come

In 2 Timothy 3:12 we read, “Yea, and all that will live righteously in Yahshua Messiah shall suffer persecution.”

We all can attest that this sobering statement is true. All who determine to follow Yahweh are going to be persecuted. It is as sure as the rising and setting of the sun.

We should not be at all surprised as Yahshua said in John 15:20, “The servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” Read also Philippians 1:29 which confirms, “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Messiah, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His sake.”

Persecution comes in different forms depending on the place and time you are living. In poor countries, the persecution often comes in the form of physical suffering (lack of adequate food and shelter), whereas in wealthier countries, it often comes in the form of job discrimination, slander, family and peer pressures, and emotional stress. In some countries, religious persecution is so severe that imprisonment and even death are not uncommon.

We must keep following Yahweh no matter what persecutions we suffer. We should follow Moses’ example as mentioned in Hebrews 11:25, which says “choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of Yahweh, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.”

Paul finished his course in martyrdom, but he had kept the faith until the end (2 Timothy 4:7). “For light affliction,” he said, “ which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

Let us not lose heart when we suffer for the truth as found in Scripture. Keep following Yahweh until the day you draw your last breath!
